“STAVROS AFENTAKIS”
Beekeeping
Stavros Afentakis has been a successful beekeeper since 1987, continuing a long family tradition of beekeeping, which also includes his wife and children.
√ Stavros Afentakis owns two apiaries, each of which has 150 honey bee colonies.
His Milos island apiary produces thyme honey, whereas his Kimolos apiary produces blossom (polyfloral) honey.
√ Both bee yards are located in places difficult to access, far from cultivations. This allows bees to forage in the local, wild flora, where there is no presence of chemicals.
√ Local flora includes more than 400 species. Many of them like thyme, sorrel, pink rockrose, wild lavender, autumn heather, common sage, mallow, etc are excellent apicultural plants, which give rich, floral flavor, nice taste and transparent golden color to his honey.
You can find Stavros Afentakis' honey, packed in glass jars of 0,5kg and 1kg, in super markets and traditional delicacies' stores in Kimolos and Milos.
You can also order it directly from the producer.
