Kimolos - Chorio
«KALI KARDIA» (open heart)
Cafe – restaurant
Since 1920
Close to the Giorgilas square
For more than ninety years, “KALI KARDIA”, also known as “Bochoris”, the nickname of the owners, is a living tradition of Kimolos.
In the past it was usual for Greek villages to have a store operating as a coffee shop, restaurant, telephone room and a grocer shop at the same time. That's what “KALI KARDIA” used to be.
Numerous feasts have taken place here, accompanied by the local musicians (one of them was the past owner, Nickos) or the old jukebox which, still exists here.
Apostolis and Yannis, the owners, succeeded their father Nickos and their mother Vaso, keeping up the family tradition.
From early in the morning (06.30) until midnight, “KALI KARDIA” offers you:
• Breakfast
• Coffee
• A variety of “mezes” dishes to accompany your ouzo, tsipouro, wine or beer (grilled octopus is an excellent choice).
• Traditional sweets.
You can also buy cigarettes, water, refreshments, beers, spirits, ice creams.
In the afternoon, old men play here a technical card game named “prefa” while, many more watch them with interest, telling stories about everyday issues at the same time. The usual prize for the winner is a chocolate. It's an original picture of the island's life.
“KALI KARDIA” operates throughout the year.
