“To melaki” (honey) is a 500 beehives’ contemporary apiary located at St. Fotini, and Froudia Kimolos island.

A sweet childhood story lies behind its simple name: as a kid, Kostas loved bees. When he grew up, he studied beekeeping at the, well known, American Farm School in Thessaloniki. When Kostas met his future wife, Lena, he transferred his passion about bees to her and today, their daughter, Irene, is following her dad’s steps.

“To melaki” produces honey that features all of nature’s rich scents: lavender, heather, rockrose, ladania, chamomile, thyme, along with many other herbs contribute their therapeutic properties to its unique taste.

Apart from honey, the apiary also produces pollen, beeswax, beeswax cream, royal jelly and propolis.

All products can be purchased at “To melaki store”, Parathiria area, Chorio, Kimolos.

You can also order top quality sesame seed candy (pasteli) and honey in small packages, to offer as a treat or in social occasions.

Growing up in a honey producers’ family increases the chances that you’ll follow the same path. That’s how Xenofon (Fontas) Moustakas started an experimental “swarm”, in 1995, out of curiosity.
What followed was pretty much expected: aided by his uncle and his mother, Maria, he managed to turn his admiration for this awesome insect, into love, which later turned into knowledge and respect.
In 2020, Fontas’ son Petros takes over the business, names their honey “KIMOMELO” while at the same time, adds some more goods of own produce like caper and samphire.

√ “KIMOMELO” is the product of 80 beehives in Kafkares, a nice area, ideal for growing up bees, in the inner part of Kimolos. Kafkares is an area full of herbs and wildflowers, such as mint, rosemary, lavender, chamomile, sorrel, pink rockrose, mallow, caper, common sage, etc. These herbs, with their valuable ingredients, provide his blossom honey with a rich aroma, a golden texture and an expected, sweet taste.
