Saint Methodia was born at Kimolos in 1861.She was the third of the eight in total children of her family.
After her husband was drowned at a shipwreck, she became a nun. She was living in a small, plain room next to the church of Christos (the Birth of Christ) in the Castle. She used to be shelter for women from Kimolos and other islands. She was studying, praying and helping people to face the life’s difficulties.
She died at October 5th 1908 and sanctified in 1991. Her feast is on October 5th. A small church has been built on the ruins of her room.
