  • The roofed passes at Karkanis neighborhood (Chorio).
  • The Medieval Castle at Chorio.
  • The Archaeological Museum.
  • The Folk and Maritime Museum.
  • You should visit some old churches, preferably the cathedral “Panagia Odigitria” (Blessed Virgin Mary). There are more than eighty churches all over Kimolos island, most of them built from the late 16th to the early 19th cent. The oldest one, “Genissi tou Christou”(the Birth of Christ, 1592), is into the Medieval Castle. There are good byzantine and post – byzantine icons in them.
  • The “Paliokastro” acropolis, in the middle of the island.
  • The old, stone, rainwater tank at Xevri. Narrow dikes, carved in the hillside, lead the rainwater into the tank. The water surface is naturally covered by a little water plant (Lemna minor) all day long. The little plant draws back to the wall about sunset.
  • The old stone bridge at “Panoklima” seasonal flow, a little further the north exit of Chorio.
  • The cycladic architecture of Chorio.
  • The sunset at Mavrospilia.
  • The sunken ancient town and the burial grounds at “Ellinika”.
  • The impressive “matsakania” walls at “Agios Minas” bay. “Poria” is a light, porous, volcanic tuff. When cut in rectangular pieces, it was used as a building matter. Kimolians were in the “poria” trade (in Greece,Southern Europe and Asia Minor) for centuries. The working refuges (matsakania), were in use to insulate the flat roofs of the houses and build dry stone walls for the fields.
    Yet, there were enough remains to make these walls.
  • The ruined windmills at Xaplovouni. There are several roads to climb to Xaplovouni. One of them is a little northern from the Post Office starting from the main road.
    A little further from the windmills, you’ll see the church “Pantokratoras”. There is a veranda in front of it, with an excellent view to the sea. There, you can enjoy a marvelous sunrise. You may come down the hill from the old path leading to Mizithrou.
  • Tou Geronicola ta apsila”: is an impressive cliff with white and gray rocks, at the northern coast of Kimolos. It is suggested to be seen by the sea.
  • Poliegos islet:Part of the European Program “Natura 2000” for its incredible natural environment. You should have a round – the – island tour by a boat.
  • You should see“ Skiadi”, a huge mushroom – shaped rock, carved by the wind, in the middle of the island, a Geological Monument of the Aegean Sea.
  • The salt pan at Aliki, in early spring or mid autumn, when it is full of birds.
